Pubs in The Netherlands
(well... Amsterdam, that is)

Hoppe (Amsterdam)

Cafe The Minds (Amsterdam)

With regards to The Netherlands so far we've only been to Amsterdam -- typical, eh? And though I photographed a few pubs there, the ones linked above are the only whose names I recall. (yeah, we were a bit tipsy on that pub crawl)

About Amsterdam

The Kingom of the Netherlands FAQ

When you say "the Netherlands" most people say "where's that?" or "don't you mean Holland?" Those who do know where it is usually say "Oh, AMSTERDAM! Man, you gotta go to Amsterdam!" And from then on the topic of conversation is the capitol city of Amsterdam's famous "coffee shops" (legal smoke houses for marijuana and hashish) and sex district (legal prostitution). But if you can get beyond these tired topics, you may get to the next tired topic; Amsterdam's many bars and pubs. It's a pub crawlers heaven, complete with these handy streetside urinals.

It is also a cafe and restaurant crawlers heaven, and with its many canals lined with 100, 200 and 300 year old buildings, it is beautiful. A Dutch friend of mine avoids his home country city of Amsterdam because, he says, "Amsterdam is for tourists." He is indeed correct! Don't make it your only European vacation destination - you have to get off the beaten path at some point -- but don't miss Amsterdam either.

Take a paddle boat stroll through the canals, go to their national museum, visit the Anne Frank house, find some good restaurants and to help cheer you up after the depressing visit to the Anne Frank house, go pub crawling.

With it's crooked buildings and happy bike-riding citizens, it's like a toon-town for adults.

Go forth and pub crawl bold tourist! Just make sure you visit this old place:
