OReilly's is a pretty nice pub, strangely (strategically?) situated smack on the fringe of San Francisco's Little Italy. It had a pretty ecclectic crowd every time I've been there; not too hip, not too square, young and old, just folks who like the pub ambiance and good beers, I suppose. Lucky Baldwin's in Pasadena, California has a better vibe. But OReilly's has better physical character, and a prettier bar. If you want to see what brews they serve, honestly, just check out their website (above). I don't recall.

Surprise, surprise (sarcasm added); OReilly's has a lot of good beer on tap. Click on their website above to find out which ones.

It has a couple of cozy corners, but enough in my opinion.
The cubby-hole above is my favorite spot, and popular, too. The lady in
white there stole my seat while I was taking this photo, and my two friends
sitting opposite her didn't even notice. Must have been enjoying their good
beer.

Of course, the walls are covered with photos and trinkets, mostly of Irish ilk, some signed, including one of Shane MacGowan of the Pogues. I saw the Pogues in 1989 in Portugal -- in Lisbon, I think. Shane MacGowan was falling down drunk the whole time. I'm still not sure if I ever heard anything resembling music at that concert. But it was kind of funny seeing MacGowan flat on his back, singing towards the ceiling, holding the microphone above his delirious head. A friend of mine managed to sneak back stage after the concert, and party with the band. This same friend got arrested later while wandering drunken around the streets of Lisbon in the early morning hours, trying to find his way back to our hostel. I still have a Pogues concert poster I snatched that night. What does any of that have to do with OReilly's pub? Nothing.

I never ventured into the restaurant side (below), because I recognize the fact that beer has food value, but food does not have beer value, so why bother with food at a pub?

Oh, look! The restaurant side has even more Irish photos and crap on the wall! And how about that street lamp?
