Nine Fine Irishmen

Located at the New York, New York casino and hotel on the Las Vegas strip, this is a fine example of an overbuilt, modern, imitation Irish pub. But I'll give them a waiver since they claim to have built the pub in Ireland and imported it piece by piece to Las Vegas. Ahhh Vegas... leave it to the ultimate theme town to know how to pull that off. There's plenty of pictures here, scroll down for more.

The downstairs bar.
As many times as I've been to Las Vegas (mostly business trips) in the last 15 years, I never liked it there until I discovered this pub. Sure, its an "Irish Pub" ala Las Vegas, and it isn't the kind of pub to quietly debate politics with a friend over a beer. But where else in the USA will you see real, live Irish bands playing every night? I don't know where they get the bands, but while standing in the bathroom queue during the break I've heard genuine Irish accents coming from the band members standing in the queue with us.

There are lots of places to get cozy upstairs or downstairs, enjoy good food, and there is a good beer selection from two bars.

The upstairs bar
Despite the location in the heart of a Las Vegas casino, the prevailing atmosphere is jolly and the clientele usually behave more like jolly pubbers, not tourists, despite the fact that we're damned near all tourists there. I think the live band has that affect on the crowd. When the band starts up at night, see if you can spot the mysterious Dancing Asian Lady In Red. She has been a regular there almost every single time I've visited the pub!
Helpful Tip: They also serve food at the upstairs bar areas. If you're going for dinner, before commiting to a long wait to be seated try this: tell the hostess you're just there for the bar. They'll let you in right away. Go upstairs, if you can find a seat at the bar or a table, go ahead and order food with your drink! Voila! No 30 minute wait to get seated.

Above: the bar is named for nine Irish revolutionaries whose busts adorn
this wall.

They even have a dancing platform where a cute girls (presumably employees)
kick up their heels. Must be an Irish thing.

The sign says "there are no strangers here, just friends who haven't met".
