The
Alludium Q-36 PSK31 Modulator.
by WA4DQS (and every other playful ham!)
After several years -- minutes of design,
construction and testing, I finally perfected the world's
first-- umpteenth audio coupled, cheap, sorry-excuse-for-an-interface
so that I could grace -- pollute the popular PSK haunts
with my very own QPSK transmissions -- noise, and marry
-- insult my Icom 756 Pro II with this cheap set up.
Actually, as evidenced by the 20 meter PSK QSO
below, it works very well. Hey, man, who says you need
the latest and greatest? (answer: HRO!!) Of course,
I ended up buying a Rigblaster M8 (hey, just doing my part
to support the economy!) But it sure was nice logging my first
PSK31 contacts with this simple setup. (Trivia question: Who
invented the "real" Alludium Q36 Explosive Space
Modulator? A: Marvin the Martian, from the old Bugs Bunny
cartoon)
Golly gee whiz. Here's my first PSK31 QSO:

That's pretty amazing considering my setup. Ready to laugh?
I've simply set my mike to vox, and ran my computer's headphone
to the mic. Sound insulated... by a simple sound setup. HA.

WA4DQS de KC5GNB My first attempts at PSK used the "Audio
Coupling" techinques as well , but I just laid the mic in
front of the computer speakers and vice versa...worked until
I got an interface put togeather....welcome to the world of

a Rigblaster M8 on order. But got to tinkering just a few
minutes ago and thought, OK, let's see what this does... Uh-oh.
Girlfriend just came in the door, and the mic might get vox'd
any moment now, so I should stop before it get's ugly. hi
hi. Thanks again, though, Bill. You're copy is excellent.
