| Comments: | Hi Folks, There is an online petition being taken at : www.PetitionOnline.com/pfcmongo/petition.html to urge the D.O.D. to award a medal to those who served during the Cold War Era. I personally feel that we (I served 61-64) deserve some recognition for our service to our country. The Congress approved the issuance of the medal and the money is already in the budget, but D.O.D.(Sec. Rumsfeld) for some reason has decided not to do it. I would appreciate it if you would think it over,and if you agree with me,go to the site and sign the petition. You DO NOT have to be a Cold War Veteran to sign,just a citizen of the U.S.A.. | Comments: | I was in Korea in 1953 , first as the Maintenance Officer for the 335th FIS at K14, then after going back home on emergency leave, came back to the 4th Fighter as assistant Ops Officer under Major Mason. I made many flights as pilot of that Goony up and down the peninsula and over to Suiki and other bases in Japan. Warrent Officer Karz (S?) was the MO for the two Goonies. Colone ermont Garrison's Flight Suit is in the Museum here in Kirtland AFB. He was the CO of the 335th during much of 1953. |
