This photograph reminds me of the old Flintston's cartoon, when Fred Flintstone uses his feet to start and stop his car in.  I'm sure  this photo was a staged gag.  Were the pilots making a commentary about the cramped cockpit of the T-33?  It's slow accelleration?  The brakes?  All of the above?
