This is a re-touched (I've removed the yellowing and also the return address) digital photocopy of a letter to Nathan C. Starr from J.R.R. Tolkein regarding the completion of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. At some point after Nathan passed away, Nina, Nathan's wife, gave my brother Bill a set of first editions of the famed trilogy. The books, bruised and well-worn, contained this letter. Bill now keeps the original letter in the antique William Starr safe at home.
